Charred wire
Reinforced glass defect in which the surface of the wire is heavily contaminated with oxide
Peeling
The first stage of grinding glass - rough primary grinding, performed before distribution
Bleach
A substance or mixture of substances added to a mixture that neutralizes the coloring effect of impurities. Their action is either physical (by creating a color that complements the color of the impurity to neutral), or chemical (for example, by oxidation)
Tiling
Placement of the refractory bar outside the worn bar during operation of the furnace; or bar located in this way
Obsidian
Natural volcanic glass in black
Fire polishing
Glass heating to give it smoothness, gloss and fusion of the edges of the product
Fireproof glass (Flameproof glass)
Glass that does not break easily when heated, or in contact with a flame
Refractory bar
1. Refractory blocks placed in front of a newly installed pot.
2. Refractory bars for regulating glass flows in the channels of the forming machine (shutter).
3. Refractory bars in a vertical damper with a counterweight or in the furnace door (gate).
Scale
A small piece of metal or coal oxide enclosed in glass
Oxidizing agent
A mineral or chemical component that enhances the oxidation state of other glass components during cooking, thereby helping to brighten or control the color of the glass
Colored schliere
Dark or otherwise tinted linear inclusion in colorless or stained glass
Environment
1. Refractory blocks placed in front of a newly installed pot.
2. Refractory bars for regulating glass flows in the channels of the forming machine (shutter).
3. Refractory bars in a vertical damper with a counterweight or in the furnace door (gate).
Opal glass
Stained opaque glass
Potlets
Oven for heating pots before being placed in a pot oven
Support wall
Blocks of a special form supporting a vault or other arches
Capacity determination
Tests in which the capacity of glass containers is determined not for one product, but as the average for a representative sample
Down duct
A duct with a bottom level below the bottom of the cooking stove
Refining
The stage of the glass melting process, in which the glass melt is freed from insoluble gases
Residue (Scull)
Glass remaining in a spoon after most of the glass is poured
Vitrification
Contact surface sintering of molten glass
Heating holes
Cavity or blind holes in the pot furnace to heat the bins
Swelling (free-form glass)
The technology of forming heated glass under the influence of its own weight
Glass swelling
A method of forming heated glass, in which the glass swells on the inner surface of the glass mold
Annealing
Slow cooling of the glass after heating to remove (reduce) the internal residual stresses arising from the temperature difference between the inner and outer layers of the product
Open pot
A pot opened in such a way that the glass is directly heated and chemically attacked by the torch
Open bubble
Defective surface of sheet glass due to contact with rolls in the shaft of a vertical stretching machine
Casting
The process of shaping glass by pouring it into a mold or onto a table or by passing it between shafts
Reflective glass
This is an ordinary float glass with a metal coating to reduce solar heat. A special metal coating also gives a mirror effect that does not allow you to see through such a glass. It is mainly used in facades.
Point
A hole through which glass flows. In relation to the feeder, the term refers to the hole formed by the ring of a point (insert) at the bottom of the tray
