The work of «StekloSouz» of Russia as part of an interdepartmental working group under the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia

At the beginning of the second decade of May 2022, a meeting of the interdepartmental Working Group (WG) "Glass" under the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia was held with the participation of the leaders of the Committee on Ecology of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia - members of the interdepartmental WG Savin Alexey , chairman of the committee and Lukyantsev Sergey , deputy chairman.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Working Group - Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the Field of Production and Consumption Waste Management Fedotovsky A.N.

Topic of the meeting: On adjusting the roadmap to reduce the volume of waste entering landfills, introducing separate waste collection, switching to a circular economy and using the mechanism of extended producer responsibility in terms of processing and recycling packaging and glass products.

Currently, StekloSouz is preparing materials for the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia to continue work as part of an interdepartmental WG on the following issues:

1. Proposals for updating sections of the roadmap to reduce the volume of waste entering landfills, introducing separate waste collection, switching to a circular economy and using the extended producer responsibility (EPR) mechanism in terms of packaging and glass products, including in terms of measures supporting organizations and setting objective deadlines for the implementation of activities planned under the roadmap;

2. Providing a calculation justification for establishing a recycling standard other than 100%, taking into account compliance with the current provisions of the Federal Law of June 24, 1998 No. 89-FZ "On Production and Consumption Wastes";

3. Presentation by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia of accumulated experience in promoting separate waste collection;

4. Providing information about the main equipment used for recycling, as well as the need for its modernization and import substitution;
