The journal «Glass and Ceramics» for February 2022 is out of print

The 2nd issue of the monthly scientific and technical journal "Glass and Ceramics" for 2022 is out of print.

Contents of the February issue:

- POLARIZATION-DEPENDENT BIREFRINGENCE IN LITHIUM ALUMINOSILICATE GLASSES

The formation of polarization-dependent birefringence in the volume of lithium silicate and lithium aluminosilicate glasses under the action of a series of femtosecond laser pulses, which is apparently associated with the formation of nanogratings, is demonstrated. The dependences of the phase shift in the light passing through the modified regions on the parameters of laser radiation and the chemical composition of the glass are determined. It is shown that an increase in Al2O3 due to the content of an alkaline component in the glass composition leads to an increase in the minimum number of pulses for the formation of a birefringent region, as well as an increase in the phase shift.

- INVESTIGATION OF THE INTERACTION OF LEAD-SILICATE GLASSES WITH BARIUM HYDROXIDE

The effect of alkaline treatment on the fracture process and some surface characteristics of mechanically treated glass disks of lead-silicate glasses S87-2 and S78-4 has been studied.

It is shown that the interaction of these glasses with barium hydroxide leads to the removal of silicic acid from the gel surface, which in turn improves the wettability by water and the optical transparency of the glasses. It is proposed in the technology of production of electrovacuum devices, where lead-silicate glasses are used, to practice their washing with barite water for rapid coagulation of silica gel, which excludes the appearance of foreign particles on the surface of the studied glasses.

- INVESTIGATION OF THE PASSAGE OF ELECTRONS WITH ENERGY 12 - 15 keV THROUGH GLASS CONVERSING CAPILLARIES

The results of experimental studies of the passage of an electron beam with energies of 12 and 15 keV through glass tapering macrocapillaries are presented. As a result of the measurements, there is no explicit dependence of the output current on the electron energy. The time dependence of the beam current at the exit from the capillaries was measured.

- NUCLE FORMING EFFECT OF PbSe ADDITIVE ON Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oδ GLASS CERAMICS

The effect of PbSe additions in the amount of 0–0.5% on the crystallization kinetics, nucleation, glass transition temperature, and crystallization temperature of Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oδ glass obtained by melt pressing with cooled metal molds was studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA).

The DTA curves obtained at different sample heating rates were analyzed using the Ozawa, Ogis–Bennett, Tahor, and Kissinger equations, which made it possible to estimate the parameters of nucleation kinetics, activation energy, and Avrami parameters. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that the degree of oxidation in the structure increases with increasing PbSe impurity concentration.
