A robotic burner for quartz products has been developed in St. Petersburg

A new robotic furnace created by specialists from SPbPU will double the production of quartz glass for optics, the chemical industry, and electronics. Automated feeding of quartz blanks into the machine further reduces the percentage of manufacturing defects.

As reported by RIA Novosti, quartz glass surpasses ordinary glass in heat resistance, chemical inertness, and light transmission, which makes it ideal for optics, laboratory glassware, and electronics. It is produced from natural quartz or synthetic silicon dioxide.

The new SPbPU installation doubles the productivity of manufacturing quartz products. The automated system for positioning blanks and the burner not only speeds up the process, but also reduces defects from 25% to 5%.

For enterprises, this means a 2-3-fold increase in output without expanding their staff. With such an increase in efficiency and a reduction in defects, investments in equipment pay off in 3-6 months.
