Production of tomato paste increased in Kabardino-Balkaria

Canning factories in Kabardino-Balkaria produced almost 134 million standard cans of tomato paste in 2021, which is 2% higher than in 2020, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic reports.

In the structure of canned fruits and vegetables produced last year, tomato paste makes up 43%.

The main part of tomato paste - more than 80 million conventional cans - is packed in barrels and sent outside the republic to enterprises for the production of ketchups and sauces. The other part is packaged in glass containers of various sizes for retail sale, and tomato paste from Kabardino-Balkaria is produced under well-known brands.

Products made from tomatoes grown in Kabardino-Balkaria do not contain preservatives, dyes, starch, therefore they are in high consumer demand.

In general, in 2021, the production of canned fruits and vegetables in Kabardino-Balkaria amounted to 310 million conventional cans. The region continues to hold a leading position in the production of canned fruits and vegetables among the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District.
