According to NSTU, the university staff has developed a technology for generating electricity based on glass production.
It involves the use of a thermal unit, the operating principle of which consists of capturing and processing the heat of gases emitted from glass furnaces using the organic Rankine cycle.
The scientists have developed various options for the technological process of using flue gases and calculated the potential productivity of the system. According to them, this method can produce up to 2 MW of electricity.
The developers propose using the new technology to generate electricity for the internal needs of enterprises. It can be implemented by equipping glass furnaces with additional equipment. NSTU employees have already developed a technological scheme for one of the partner enterprises.
