Handmade glass production is included in the List of Intangible Cultural Objects of the Czech Republic

Handcrafted glass production has been included in the list of intangible objects of traditional folk culture of the Czech Republic. The Ministry of Culture approved the proposal of the Museum of Glass and Jewelry in Jablonec nad Nisou and registered the said production at the end of last year. Registration is a prerequisite for the possibility of filing an application for inclusion in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, the director of the museum, Milada Valechkova, told ČTK on January 7.

Joint initiative of six European states

Six European countries are fighting together to include the creation of handmade glass in the UNESCO list. Registration was initiated by France, which is the leader of the project. Along with the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Finland and Spain have also joined the initiative.
