Belarus has increased the production of energy-saving glass. In summer, it protects against solar overheating, and in winter, it reduces heat loss in the room. MIR 24 correspondent Andrey Zrazhevsky told about the Gomel plant.
The thickness of the silver coating is several atoms. A small speck of dust can lead to defects. The glass must be sterile. To do this, it is cleaned with demineralized water.
“They are so thin that it is impossible to detect it with the human eye. Unprepared glass and coated glass do not differ in appearance from each other,” explained the leading engineer of the glass plant, Alexander Manayev.
Ordinary glass transmits up to 75% of sunlight, and silvered glass - only 35%. In summer, a room with such windows will not be hot. The quality of the innovative glass is monitored at each stage of production.
Artem Shishkovets, Head of the special glass section:
“High-tech products that are manufactured at the section support the country precisely as a reserve for this type of product. According to the law, all double-glazed windows constructed in buildings in the Republic of Belarus must contain energy-saving glass." The company produces half a million square meters of glass per year. This is enough to supply the Belarusian construction industry and maintain stable exports.
Yulia Shaleiko, Head of the Industrial Processing Products Sales Bureau of the Glass Factory:
"We export 70% of our glass output to the Russian Federation. We are also present in the markets of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan."
The geography of exports is expanding. Negotiations are underway on the entry of Belarusian glass into the markets of Africa, Latin America and Asia.
