In 2024, the first enterprise will appear in the Kirov region that will process and dispose of solid municipal waste. It is planned that the new integrated facility will be located on the territory of the Kirov-Chepetsk district in the Fedyakovsky rural settlement in the vicinity of the existing Lubyagino landfill. The new facility will receive waste generated by residents of Kirov, Kirovo-Chepetsk and Kirovo-Chepetsk region.
The enterprise will consist of a general waste collection site, a sorting site, recycling enterprises: glass, paper, cardboard, plastic, and a landfill that will receive only the remaining non-recyclable waste. It is expected that the incinerated part will make up about 10% of the total volume of waste brought to the facility.
About two years pass from the “zero level”, which we are now at, to the construction of such an object. Therefore, the construction of a new enterprise can begin no earlier than the summer of 2022, ”said Alla Albegova, Minister of Environmental Protection of the Kirov Region.
He also added that under the project of the existing Lubyagino landfill, it was planned to create six waste disposal sites at the site. To date, three have been implemented. That is, the site will allow reformatting the existing facility into a modern technological enterprise for integrated waste management, where there will be both sorting and processing of waste, rather than placement, as it was before.
