Nearly 300 hectares allocated for the construction of an industrial zone in WKO

The project cost of the Industrial Zone, which is located 20 km from Uralsk, is 14.4 billion tenge. The regional authorities assure that there is a demand for such a method of attracting investments, and this is a promising branch for the development of entrepreneurship.

Currently, 1.7 billion tenge has already been allocated from the republican budget for the implementation of the project, and the tender “Construction of engineering networks and communications of the industrial zone” worth 2.5 billion tenge is under discussion.

According to the examination document published on the public procurement website on February 19, 2020, the industrial zone is intended for leather and footwear, glass, chemical, textile and furniture production; production of packaging containers, food products and building materials; small enterprises, production of rubber and plastic products, products for landscape design and even for mechanical engineering.

“We were based on preliminary applications. The only things that cannot be produced are pharmaceuticals and products. And that’s only because such applications haven’t been received, ”said Arthur Doskaliev, Deputy Chairman of JSC“ SEC “Oral”.

According to the examination documents, JSC “SEC Oral” sent a letter on September 18, 2019, indicating the construction time: the construction of two phases of the project was supposed to start in November 2019 and be completed in 2021. At the same time, the most voluminous part of the work is planned for 2020 - according to the "Standards" - 71% of the first stage and 86% of the second.

The Office of Entrepreneurship and Industrial and Innovative Development (UPIIR) said that a business that comes to work in this zone will receive everything it needs and save a lot of money.

“Large companies often have to spend a lot of money on setting up production branches: construction, communications, transportation and logistics - all these are big expenses. Our task is to provide the business with the most comfortable working conditions. In this industrial zone, everything you need is provided - from roads, storage facilities and workshops to the railway that enters the territory directly from the Floodplain, ”said Maksat Kulanbaev, deputy head of the UPIIR WKO.

The Department is confident that there are no risks, and the project will certainly bring together the right number of entrepreneurs with a wide variety of activities. However, the SEC “Oral” said that at present the industrial zone project has concluded an agreement with only one company.

“We have an agreement of intent with Broeikas Uralsk LLP, which operates in the agricultural sector and will grow vegetables using Western technology. To begin with, they rent 5 hectares, and subsequently they plan to expand to 55 hectares, ”explained Arthur Doskaliev.

The authorities began talking about the construction of an industrial zone in WKO back in 2013. Then the ex-akim of the region Nurlan Nogaev said that she would be located near the village of Beles, and the regional akimat planned to build together with Turkish investors.
