The largest garbage operator in the Moscow region may transfer its assets to the authorities

The largest waste operator in the Moscow region, RT-Invest, is discussing the transfer of its assets to the regional authorities for 1 ruble.

RBC writes about this with reference to three sources close to the company.

It is noted that the discussion of the deal was confirmed by the government of the Moscow region and the press service of RT-Invest, where they explained the decision by concentrating on the project of building waste thermal treatment plants.

The article clarifies that the management company Regional Operator, a structure of RT-Invest, includes Ruza, Kashira and Sergiev Posad regional operators.

Last August, it was reported that more than 11 million tons of waste have been sent for recycling in the Moscow region since 2019.

As stated by the regional Minister of Housing and Communal Services Anton Velikhovsky, the Moscow region is the leader in Russia in waste management issues. 7.5 million tons of waste are processed annually, or 20% of all waste in the country.

Currently, more than 168 thousand containers for waste collection have been installed in the region.
