Third decade, July 2024. Dynamics of the market for rail glass shipments

In the shipment of glass by rail to the Russian market (domestic supplies + import) in the third ten-day period of July 2024, the negative dynamics continued compared to the same period last year - minus 23.5%. The shipment volume amounted to 1.2 million sq. m.

Consumption of rail glass by transport in the third ten-day period of July 2024 increased in two federal districts of the Russian Federation. The maximum growth in rail supplies in the Volga Federal District +75.8%. A decrease in supplies occurred in six federal districts of the Russian Federation, the largest - in the Ural Federal District - 60.7%.

Volume of consumption of rail glass in the third ten-day period of July 2024 by federal districts of the Russian Federation (dynamics in percentage compared to the same period last year):

• Volga Federal District - 205 thousand sq. m (+75.8%);

• Far Eastern Federal District - 140 thousand sq. m (+37.5%);

• Southern Federal District - 41 thousand sq. m (-0.4%);

• Northwestern Federal District – 67 thousand sq. m (-17.0%);

• Siberian Federal District – 590 thousand sq. m (-29.4%);

• North Caucasian Federal District – 34 thousand sq. m (-49.6%);

• Central Federal District – 94 thousand sq. m (-60.5%);

• Ural Federal District – 40 thousand sq. m (-60.7%).

In general, in July 2024, the volume of glass shipped by rail to the Russian market amounted to 3.3 million sq. m, which is 20.8% less than in the same period in 2023.

Consumption of rail glass in July 2024 increased only in the Volga Federal District +18.3%. The decrease in supplies occurred in seven federal districts of the Russian Federation, the largest one was in the North Caucasian Federal District -66.4%.

Volume of consumption of railway glass in July 2024 by Federal District of the Russian Federation (change in percentage to the same period last year):

• Volga Federal District – 576 thousand sq. m (+18.3%);

• Far Eastern Federal District – 379 thousand sq. m (-2.2%);

• Ural Federal District – 258 thousand sq. m (-5.0%);

• Siberian Federal District – 1,522 thousand sq. m (-22.3%);

• Northwestern Federal District – 168 thousand sq. m (-34.7%);

• Central Federal District – 211 thousand sq. m (-42.1%);

• Southern Federal District – 116 thousand sq. m (-50.0%);

• North Caucasian Federal District – 69 thousand sq. m (-66.4%).

For the period from the beginning of the year to July 31, 2024, the volume of glass shipped by rail to the Russian market amounted to 24.0 million sq. m, which is 1.5% more than for the same period in 2023.

Consumption of rail glass from January 1, 2024 to July 31, 2024 increased in three federal districts of the Russian Federation. The maximum growth in rail deliveries in the Volga Federal District +39.7%. A decrease in deliveries occurred in five federal districts of the Russian Federation, the largest - in the Central Federal District -34.2%.

Volume of consumption of rail glass from January 1 to July 31, 2024 by Federal District of the Russian Federation (dynamics in percentage terms compared to the same period last year):

• Volga Federal District - 4,232 thousand sq. m (+39.7%);

• Far Eastern Federal District - 2,191 thousand sq. m (+24.0%);

• Ural Federal District – 1,878 thousand sq. m (+10.6%);

• Siberian Federal District – 10,307 thousand sq. m (-1.1%);

• Northwestern Federal District – 1,152 thousand sq. m (-1.3%);

• North Caucasian Federal District – 1,257 thousand sq. m (-7.3%);

• Southern Federal District – 1,279 thousand sq. m (-21.2%);

• Central Federal District – 1,698 thousand sq. m (-34.2%).

The share of glass rail deliveries to the Russian market in the total consumption volume for 5 months of 2024 amounted to ~20%.
