On July 05, 2023, a meeting was held at the StekloSoyuz Association of Russia (hereinafter SSR). Issues of personnel training for the glass industry were discussed.
The problematic issues of organizing the training of specialists for factories and scientific personnel at the present stage of development of the production of glass and products for various sectors of the national economy occupy one of the main components of the industry.
Valery Shubin, Director of the SSR Glass Industry Development Department, made a report on the state of the personnel issue. He cited the facts of an acute shortage of personnel for technologists, engineers, and operators at enterprises.
The reason is the lack of proper interaction between the SSR-university-plant-young specialist.
At present, the proposals will be sent to higher and secondary educational institutions for practical application. As before, the interaction between the SSR and universities in the preparation and coordination of curricula is still poorly organized. However, work in this direction continues. There is an understanding that this activity will be completed in 2023 by signing agreements with educational institutions. In turn, the factories are ready to take an interested part in this issue.

The meeting was chaired by Viktor Osipov, President of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia. Closing the meeting, he asked to indicate in the decision the need to hold a scheduled meeting in the 4th quarter of this year and report on the results of the implementation of the tasks set. At the same time, Viktor Osipov asked to make an addition to the program: to create a register of enterprises wishing to accept specialists for practice. To develop work to attract future specialists from the school bench with the involvement of the heads of glass factories. Considering that basically all factories are city-forming, work in schools will give a good result.
Currently, a lot of work is underway to return to the mandatory distribution of young specialists studying on a budgetary basis. Plant managers need to take concrete measures to create conditions for young specialists so that they can continue to work at the plants after the end of the mandatory work.
