Federation Council asks to speed up the adoption of the law on special labeling of alcohol packaging

He recalled that the Government supported the initiative of the senators, according to which 80 percent of excise taxes on strong alcohol are credited to the regional budget. "This gave an increase in incomes of subjects of the Russian Federation in the 148 billion rubles for two years," - said the senator.

At the same time, according to Sergey Ryabukhin, about 28 percent of alcohol products in the Russian Federation remain in the shadows. The problem can be solved by introducing the standard on the mandatory labeling of alcohol glass bottles with a unique sign of the manufacturing plant.

“The law that allows these innovations to be implemented was developed by senators and submitted to the State Duma more than a year ago,” he explained. The head of the budget committee of the Council of the Federation believes that it is necessary to speed up the adoption of this decision.

The speaker of the Chamber of Regions, Valentina Matvienko, noted that the Federation Council “has done a lot of work to eliminate the market for illegal alcohol.” She commissioned the budget committee to prepare a report on how the revenues of regional budgets increased after the implementation of measures to combat alcohol counterfeit. It is planned that it will be heard at the next meeting of the Chamber of Regions.
