Americans abandoned glass factory in Kyzylorda region

As reported in the regional management of industrial-innovative development, the company was not commissioned due to a conflict between the founders.

"The American company Stewart Engineers (SE), without any arguments, refused to further participate in the project, thereby putting the Chinese company King Charm Development in a difficult position," the department said.

The management explained that the American side was engaged in the installation of equipment. At the moment, in connection with the departure of the SE, the Chinese company has assumed these obligations.

At the same time, the state structure added that construction work is continuing and now work is underway on redesigning the drawings and equipment schemes. A new construction schedule has also been developed, according to which the launch of the project is planned already in 2019.

In addition, the second stage for the production of ultra-thin glass is planned after the launch of the first stage of a glass factory and a thorough market analysis. The cost of this project is estimated at $ 150 million.

Products will be marketed in domestic and international markets.

Recall that a glass factory for 42 billion tenge should have been launched back in 2017. However, due to corruption scandals, the project was suspended. According to investigators, the ex-minister of national economy, Kuandyk Bishimbayev, being the head of the Baiterek fund, organized a criminal scheme for embezzling 1 billion tenge during the construction of a glass factory in 2014. On January 13, 2017, he was arrested. He was found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for 10 years. In March 2018, Duman Aubakirov, managing director, member of the board of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan (DBK), said that the plant would be completed before the end of 2018.
