Zeev Shalom Center: Pilkington Glass Russia glass in Israel

The construction of the Zeev Shalom Center Industrial Park, located in the Emek-Hefer Regional Council, is nearing completion. A distinctive feature of the industrial facility is the glass gallery, which hides the production part of the complex from prying eyes. In its glazing, Pilkington glass was used, delivered to Israel from the Moscow region.

The Zeev Shalom Center Industrial Center, located in Emek-Heffer, consists of a three-story building, which includes a warehouse and office space. The floors are designed so that trucks can reach the storage facilities located on the upper floors. On each floor, parking lots are equipped with access roads.

The production part of the building is hidden from the eyes of strangers by means of a glass facade in which office premises are located - the idea belongs to the architectural firm Auerbach Halevy, one of the specializations of which is the design of industrial facilities.

When choosing a gallery glazing, the following factors were taken into account:

Zeev Shalom Center is located in a subtropical climate with cool rainy winters and hot dry summers - you need to create a comfortable indoor microclimate throughout the year (high coefficient of heat transfer resistance)

the need to comply with standards for natural light in office premises (high light transmission)

the desire of customers to reduce the cost of operating the facility (high protection against solar heat)

Technical consultants who worked closely with the architects of the project proposed Pilkington Suncool® 70/40 glass.

This product has been selected for the facility for a combination of characteristics. A large role in the choice was played by an extremely low light reflection coefficient - 10% (i.e., low specularity) in combination with high transparency of glass (73%), which fully suited the architect's plan. These appearance parameters provide the maximum transparency of the appearance of the building, which lies in line with the tendency of European architecture.

Excellent energy-saving glazing parameters were also of considerable importance. A double-glazed window with this glass transmits about 70% of the sunlight inside, while passing only about 40% of the solar heat. Glasses providing such a combination of characteristics are called highly selective because they let in a lot of sunlight and little solar heat. This allows you to provide comfortable conditions inside the building even with high insolation, while in hot climates it provides great savings in air conditioning costs.

In the absence of direct solar radiation, a double-glazed unit with this glass also allows extremely little heat from the heated outside air to enter, since it has excellent heat-insulating properties due to the presence of silver layers in the coating.

Why is Russian glass in demand abroad? Says Vyacheslav Shcherredin, Head of Technical Department, Export Department, SP Glass.

Currently, the Pilkington Glass Russia glass factory is successfully exporting glass with a soft magnetron coating made using Double Silver technology, double silver spraying) in more than 20 countries. The geographic reach of supplies is huge - from Mexico and Honduras to the Philippines and New Zealand. The possibility of mass deliveries for export is due to a combination of several factors.

Firstly, glass products from Russia, even despite a large transport shoulder, have a price advantage over foreign ones. The low cost of raw materials, natural gas and electricity at the place of production plays a role. For example, sand - the main raw material for glass production - is mined 10 km from the glass factory.

At the same time, the production technology, the quality control system at the manufacturing plant and the quality and characteristics of the final product are at a level that makes it easy to compete in the domestic and international markets. In Russia, not only the Suncool® glass series developed and manufactured at the company's European plants is produced, but also the Suncool®-R glass series, which is an in-house development of the Russian factory.

The bulk of exports are glass with multilayer multifunctional coating of the Suncool® and Suncool®-R brands. These are architectural multifunctional, highly selective glasses, products with maximum added value, so the export of these products is the most profitable.

Deliveries for export are carried out both directly and through partners in the importing countries, which has allowed over the years to form a reliable sales network in many parts of the world.
