Sibstekla's customers are ready to expand the scope of partnerships

This was stated by Anton Mor, General Director of Siberian Glass LLC (Sibsteklo is the largest manufacturer of glass containers beyond the Urals, an asset of RATM Holding), speaking at the Eurasian Congress - 2023, organized by the Eurasian Development Bank. The summit, which brought together representatives of government, business, scientific and expert communities from 20 countries, was held on June 8-9 in Sochi.

At the session “Cross-Country Investment Projects in Industry”, Anton Mor spoke about the construction of a new glass melting furnace, which required one and a half billion investments, in which more than a hundred companies took part:

– The investment phase coincided with the decline in overall economic activity caused by the pandemic. Quarantine measures have complicated logistics chains and movement across borders. As a result, we started the construction of the furnace almost a year later, as the delivery of materials and equipment became longer. In such a situation, it was risky to start work before everything needed for them appeared in the warehouse.

According to Anton Mor, during the pandemic, the plant learned how to effectively interact online, including how to receive technical support from foreign experts who supported the modernization. However, Sibstekla has always strived to improve the skills of specialists associated with the maintenance of foreign equipment, and in the current situation they were convinced of the correctness of the chosen course.

Assessing the prospects for the development of capacities in the territory of the Eurasian space, Anton Mor noted that glass packaging is in demand here:

– Our customers from Russia – beverage companies – have plants in the EAEU countries and are ready to expand the geographical scope of partnerships, since Sibsteklo guarantees that the consumer characteristics of glass containers meet the exacting requirements of customers. Sibsteklo can become a stabilizing link for the work of glass container enterprises, which for one reason or another are experiencing difficulties - to ensure the transfer of technologies, to strengthen the competencies of teams, which will increase productivity, as well as improve the quality of glass products.

In addition, at the forum, Anton Mor spoke about the serial production of the lightest bottle weighing 235 grams, as well as initiatives aimed at increasing the share of glass waste in the raw materials for glassmaking.
