The magazine «Glass and Ceramics» for August 2023 is out of print

Dear Colleagues!

Viktor Osipov President of the Association "StekloSoyuz" of Russia is a member of the editorial board of the journal "Glass and Ceramics".

We inform you that the 8th issue of the monthly scientific and technical journal "Glass and Ceramics" for 2023 is out of print.

Contents of the August issue:

- GENERATION AND GROWTH OF CRYSTALS IN THE VOLUME OF GLASS ON THE BASIS OF THE Li2O–AL2O3–SiO2 SYSTEM

The crystallization properties of multicomponent glass based on the Li2O–Al2O3–SiO2 system have been studied. Using the method of Marotta et al., it was found that a temperature of 670°C at a holding time of 2 h provides the maximum rate of nucleation of the crystalline phase of α-eucryptite-like solid solutions.

The activation energy of nucleation and the Avrami parameter were measured using DSC. The method of gradient crystallization established the temperature range of heat treatments, within which it is possible to obtain a transparent glass-ceramic. Refinement of the temperature and time parameters of the nucleation stage made it possible to reduce the time of the second stage of sitallization, which is necessary for the complete formation of the transparent glass-ceramic structure. Varying the exposure time at a temperature of 710 ?C allows you to smoothly change the thermal expansion coefficient in the temperature range ?120 ... +500 ?C in the range of (? 3 ... +40)? 10–7 K–1.

- INFLUENCE OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF THE FLOAT PROCESS ON THE STICKING OF TIN OXIDES TO SHEET GLASS

The influence of the operating mode of the float bath on the sticking of tin oxides to the lower surface of the produced glass ribbon has been studied. Statistical analysis of the experimental data and modeling made it possible to quantify the influence of the glass ribbon formation mode and the chemical composition of the glass on the amount of tin oxide sticking.

- APPLICATION OF BISMUTHATE GLASSES AS A SUBSTRATE OF GAS SENSORS

The synthesis of bismuth-borate glasses with composition (mass content, %) was carried out: 70 Bi2O3, 2 GeO2, 25 B2O3, 3 MoO3; 70 Bi2O3, 17 GeO2, 10 B2O3, 3 MoO3 and bismuth glasses of composition (mass content, %): 80 Bi2O3, 4 GeO2, 5 MoO3, 11 SiO2; 80 Bi2O3, 8 GeO2, 8.5 SiO2, 3.5 MoO3. Methods have been developed for forming a receptor layer on the obtained glasses using the method of ultrasonic sputtering of interacting components and applying a water-insoluble polymer film obtained by a chemical reaction between a poly-N,N-dimethyl-3,4-dimethylenepyrrolidinium chloride polymer and a modifier potassium hexacyanoferrate (II). The sensors obtained on the basis of glasses make it possible to determine the content of hydrogen sulfide and water vapor in the air with an error of 2–4%.
