The production of silicon dioxide and liquid glass is planned in the cluster based on Tomsk Ilmenit from 2026

The authorities of the Tomsk region expect that investors within the industrial cluster on the basis of JSC Tugan Mining and Processing Plant Ilmenit (TGOK Ilmenit, Tomsk Region) will launch the production of silicon dioxide and liquid glass in 2026, the Interfax-Siberia agency reports. with reference to vice-governor Andrey Antonov.

“Projects are being discussed with potential investors to create production facilities for silicon dioxide, liquid glass, including within the framework of a private industrial park. According to preliminary estimates, the launch of production is planned for 2026,” Antonov said.

According to him, at present, a draft roadmap has been prepared for the formation of an industrial cluster "Non-ferrous and rare earth metals" on the basis of the Mining and Processing Plant, and potential participants in the cluster have been identified, including Ilmenit itself, LLC Siberian Titanium (JV Siberian Chemical Combine and businessman Andrey Severilov), which intends to launch the production of pigment dioxide in 2024, and other companies.

He also noted that, in parallel, a search is underway for investors interested in creating production facilities for aerated concrete, silicate bricks, paving slabs, artificial stone and glass products using raw materials from the Tuganskoye deposit. In addition, it is planned to launch the production of quartz dioxide, quartz flour, composite quartz proppant. All projects are under development.

As reported, the task of forming an industrial cluster on the basis of GOK was set at the beginning of 2023 by the Governor of the Tomsk Region Vladimir Mazur. The head of the region noted that all the necessary infrastructure exists to launch production on the basis of Ilmenit, including free land plots and engineering networks.

JSC "Tugansky GOK" Ilmenit "(part of ARMZ - the mining division of the state corporation" Rosatom ") is a mining enterprise established in September 2002 for the industrial development of the Tuganskoye deposit of ilmenite-zircon sands. Currently, mining is carried out only at the Yuzhno-Aleksandrovsky block. In May 2022, the mining and concentration complex reached its design capacity of 575 thousand tons of sand per year. The commissioning of the second stage with an increase in capacity to 6.9 million tons of sand is scheduled for 2028.
