France creates world's first 'clean' glass made from 100 percent recycled materials

One of the world leaders in the glass industry, the French company Saint-Gobain created the world's first "green" flat glass for windows and mirrors.

The building sheet glass was produced from 100% recycled materials and clean energy, the company said in a press release.

Carbon-neutral glass was produced using pure cullet (recycled material from unusable glass) and completely green energy derived from biogas and decarbonized energy. With special technical parameters of the furnace, as well as taking into account the work with "clean" materials, a group of researchers managed to cast high-quality flat glass.

The French company's project is part of a strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
