The increase in industrial production in Dagestan over the two months of 2020 by 14% compared with the first two months of last year is mainly due to the growth in production in manufacturing sectors, Dagestan Minister of Industry and Energy Saygidpasha Umakhanov told TASS on Tuesday.

According to the territorial body of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Republic of Dagestan, the industrial production index in January-February amounted to 114% compared to the same period last year.

“The increase in industrial production in January-February 2020 was affected by an increase in production in the manufacturing sectors mainly due to the fulfillment of the state defense order. According to statistics, the growth in industrial production was affected by an increase in the production of machinery and equipment not included in other groups - by 1.9 times (JSC "Gadzhiev Plant"); electrical equipment production - 1.6 times (Caspian Precision Mechanics Plant JSC); production of other vehicles and equipment - by 19.4% (OJSC KEMZ Concern). In addition, the increase in the production of other non-metallic mineral products had a positive effect - by 35.4% (LLC Dagestan Steklo Glass Tara, JSC Caspian Sheet Glass Plant); drinks production - by 18% (OJSC Rychal-Su); food production - by 8.2% (Kizlyaragrokompleks JSC, Kikunin Canning Factory LLC, APK Nagorny Dagestan LLC, Matin LLC, Deria SPOK), as well as leather and leather products - 15 , 9 times (LLC "DOF", LLC "BOFF", LLC "DOK").
