Antimony concentrate production to open in Zabaikalsky Krai

The project will be implemented on the basis of one of the largest deposits in terms of absolute antimony reserves: 3.5% of the world's and 18% of Russian reserves.

The new enterprise will become a noticeable point of economic growth in the Far East.

The mining company "Solonechenskoye" will build a modern mining enterprise in the advanced development area "Zabaikalye" to develop the Solonechenskoye antimony deposit. Its launch is scheduled for 2027. Capital investments in the project will amount to 1.7 billion rubles.

The product of the production will be commercial antimony concentrate with an antimony content of more than 50%. It is planned to produce more than 9 thousand tons of products per year.

"The new enterprise will become one of the noticeable points of economic and social growth in the Far East, will increase the production and export potential of the entire country. The priority development area regime will allow the project to achieve the best financial and economic results and actively develop in the future due to tax breaks and administrative preferences. We provide comprehensive support to the project at all stages of implementation,” commented Dina Arkhipenko, Director of the Far East Development Company Zabaikalye.

The Solonechenskoye Mining and Processing Plant is considering the possibility of further development of the project by building a metallurgical processing facility. This will allow obtaining pure antimony from antimony concentrate.

The antimony concentrates that are in demand on the world market today are used to produce final products in the form of antimony and its compounds, which are widely used in modern industry. In metallurgy, antimony is most often used as a component of lead alloy in batteries, as well as an alloying additive in the production of pipes for pumping aggressive liquids, bearings.

The most important consumer of high-purity antimony is the semiconductor industry. In addition, antimony is used in the production of heat-resistant synthetic resins and polymers, fire-resistant fabrics, optical glass, paints and enamels, medical products and other products.
