Kirill Soloveichik, Chairman of the City Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade, believes that in the next six months to a year, there will be a sufficient number of residents for most of the site.
The first five residents will locate their production facilities at the new site of the Saint Petersburg Special Economic Zone - Shushary. Kirill Soloveichik, Chairman of the City Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade, told TASS about this
"We have residents for the Shushary site. About five residents are in the final stage of preparing applications. There is also a fairly large funnel of those who are considering this opportunity in principle. We will launch it (the site - TASS note) in stages, approximately 40 hectares. I think that in the next six months to a year, we will have a sufficient number of residents for most of the site. There are innovative companies producing various glass products, there is also an electrical engineering direction and mechanical engineering," he said.
The number of sites in the Saint Petersburg special economic zone may increase to five, Soloveichik noted.
“We are currently considering proposing another (the fifth in a row - TASS note) site that could be added, because the demand is very high. The industry affiliation will be based on its territorial location. It will be radio electronics,” he said.
As Tamara Rondaleva, General Director of JSC Saint Petersburg SEZ, previously told TASS, the Shushary site will be able to accommodate up to 40 residents with an investment volume of more than 57 billion rubles, and its construction will create 5.3 thousand jobs.
The Saint Petersburg SEZ occupies more than 337 hectares and is located on four sites - Neudorf, Novoorlovskaya, Parnas and Shushary.
