In Russia, juices, fruit drinks and kvass will be labeled in test mode

On May 15, Russia will begin an experiment on the labeling of certain types of soft drinks, including juices, kvass and fruit drinks. The relevant document is posted on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

Labeling will be subject to sweet carbonated drinks, mineral water, drinks made on the basis of nuts, cereals or seeds, kvass, instant drinks, as well as fruit, berry and vegetable juices, compotes and fruit drinks. Manufacturers, importers and sellers of these products participate in the experiment voluntarily. Based on its results, a decision will be made on the advisability of introducing mandatory labeling of soft drinks.

Let us add that from April 1, mandatory labeling of beer and low-alcohol drinks in kegs was introduced in Russia. From October 1, 2023, labeling of beer in polymer packaging and glass containers will begin, and for all other types of packaging for this drink, a similar rule will come into effect from January 15, 2024.
