Tax experiment for small businesses launched in Russia

An experimental simplified taxation system for small businesses has been introduced in Russia.

On July 1, in some regions of Russia, an experiment was launched to establish a special tax regime "Automated Simplified Taxation System". Appropriate measures are provided by the federal law signed in February.

The experiment concerns small businesses: as the tax authorities explained, organizations and individual entrepreneurs with up to five employees and an annual income of no more than 60 million rubles will be able to use the new regime. The new scheme is being introduced in Moscow, the Moscow and Kaluga regions and the Republic of Tatarstan.

Participation in the experiment is voluntary, for taxpayers the submission of a number of forms of mandatory reporting is canceled, including tax reporting and reporting provided to off-budget funds. In addition, taxpayers are exempt from keeping a book of income and expenses of organizations and individual entrepreneurs. There will be no need to pay insurance premiums.

The introduction of the new tax regime is planned for December 31, 2027, the State Duma reminded.
