A special film for the production of solar panels has been created in Russia

Scientists from Samara State University, in collaboration with colleagues from Saudi Arabia and India, have developed a flexible nanofilm that can be used, among other things, for the production of solar cells. Information about this is shared by TASS.

The flexibility of the material will allow you to attach solar panels directly to clothing, backpacks, tents and other items. The production of a flexible nanofilm will cost enterprises less than the production of similar rigid structures.

In the future, the synthesized nanomaterials could also be used to create cheaper, lighter, and more flexible solar cells that look like fabric, allowing them to be attached as a translucent film. It may even be possible to develop a special fabric that will generate electricity for future "smart" clothes with built-in electronic sensors or gadgets.

Samara University expects that the developed flexible nanomaterial will be able to effectively detect radiation in a wide spectral range. To increase the sensitivity of the photodetector, the researchers added gold and silver nanoparticles to the material. The developers emphasize that this will not have a significant impact on the final price of the detectors and will be lower than analogues on the market.

Currently, most of the semiconductor materials on the market, including silicon, have a number of disadvantages. Such photodetectors have a rigid design and respond slowly to the received signal, experts say.
