A new method for producing aircraft glazing has been developed in Russia

Specialists at ONPP Technologiya (part of Rostec) have developed a new method for producing complex-shaped parts from organic glass. The dimensional molding method has eliminated a number of processes from the production cycle and reduced manufacturing time, Rostec announced.

The new method reduces the manufacturing time of structural optics with double-curved surfaces made from organic glass by 15% and reduces process losses while maintaining high optical performance. Specifically, the new technology will be used to produce side windows for the cockpit of the Russian Superjet-100 (SJ-100) airliner.

Andrey Silkin, CEO of ONPP Technologiya:

"The method for forming dimensional organic glass developed by the research team significantly shortens and reduces the cost of the production cycle. This development is highly relevant for the effective implementation of the domestic civil aviation development program."
