Graphene-modified glass developed in Russia

Russia has created a technology for the production of graphene-modified glass, which can be used in modern electronics. It was developed by specialists from the Tomsk Polytechnic University.

The production of material based on glass and graphene occurs using a laser. It essentially “draws” graphene structures in the material at a depth of several micrometers. As it turned out, this allows the use of such glass for a long time without deteriorating its properties.

Usually, metals and their oxides are used to create conductive structures on the glass surface, but such elements are erased over time, unlike graphene fused under the surface.

In tests, the obtained material has already demonstrated that it is suitable for the manufacture of electrochemical sensors and heating elements. It is also planned to use it in sensors and energy storage devices.

The university noted that glass modified with graphene can be produced entirely from domestic materials.
