In Russia, the cost of raw materials for beer packaging may increase by 10-60 percent in 2022

Raw materials for beer packaging may rise in price in Russia this year in the range of 10 percent to 60 percent, depending on the material. This was told to RIA Novosti by the acting (acting) president of AB InBev Efes (brands Hoegaarden, Stella Artois, Velkopopovickku Kozel) Oraz Durdyev.

“As for this year and forecasts, based on the current situation, growth can be about 10-15% - glass, 40-50% - plastic (raw material in PET), aluminum (raw material in cans) - 50-60%. Taking into account the double-digit consumer inflation in 2022, we can say that the cost of brewing products will also grow,” Durdyev said.

According to him, prices began to rise due to the closure of ports in China during the pandemic. At present, the increase in prices in the brewing industry is influenced by the rise in price of packaging, the cost of raw materials, transportation costs, and the departure of foreign producers. They supplied equipment and produced aluminum containers.

The President of AB InBev Efes noted that manufacturers are trying to contain price increases as much as possible, against the backdrop of a decrease in the purchasing power of the population.

Earlier in June, in an interview with Gazeta.ru, Durdyev had already stated that a rise in beer prices in the country was inevitable. Then he stressed that excises, which are set by the state, have the strongest influence on the cost of beer.
