A technopark for the production of glass and glass products to appear in Mongolia

The company "Erdesplasm" will be engaged in the development of a technological park for the production of glass and glass products.

The Erdesplasm company received a special license for five years to manage an industrial and technological park for the production of glass and glass products.

In this regard, the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the relevant ministers to provide Erdesplasm with professional and methodological support for the construction of the infrastructure of the new park using environmentally friendly and advanced technologies.

Mongolia imports one hundred percent of the glass and glass products it consumes. Of these, about 80% are from China. As of 2020, the country has purchased 21 types of glass products for $ 55 million.

The new technological park will produce import-substituting types of glass products worth more than US $ 50 million per year. First of all, it is planned to put into operation a glass container plant, the production capacity of which will be 68.8 tons of products per day. In addition, the documentation for the construction of the park provides for the recycling of glass waste from Ulaanbaatar (up to 30 percent) for the production of final products.

The park will be built on the territory of the Bagakhangai metropolitan area and will consist of three industrial zones.

The glass container plant is expected to generate an average of MNT 48 billion in revenue per year, and it will concentrate an average MNT 10 billion on state and local budgets and create more than 380 new jobs.
