In the Leningrad Region, the implementation of a separate waste collection project continues. He received active support from residents - as of May, the region sent 152 tons of glass and almost 25 tons of plastic for recycling. Ekaterina Terekhova, press secretary of the regional operator for solid waste management, told LenTV24 about this.

The pilot project started at the end of 2020. The innovation was tested in test mode in Kingisepp, Ivangorod and Luga. Gradually, other cities of the Leningrad Region are involved in sorting waste - six districts have already joined. Further, it is planned to expand not only the targeted program, but also the amount of collected types of waste, said Governor Alexander Drozdenko.
