A glass container manufacturing plant from sand to be built in Crimea

In Crimea, they are planning to build a glass container manufacturing plant, for which they are going to use sand mined in the republic. This was reported by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the region, Anushavan Agadzhanyan.

According to him, 130 million bottles are used in Crimea per year. As the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized, all these glass containers are imported from the mainland.

"At the same time, today chemists confirm that the sand that we have, after enrichment, is suitable for the production of glass containers," the RIA Novosti Crimea agency quotes the head of the department.

According to him, some investors are interested in implementing such projects. Agadzhanyan named 35 million bottles as the break-even point for glass container production. Further, as the minister reported, they want to develop capacities in Crimea for the processing of already used glass containers. Thus, a closed-loop production will be ensured in Crimea.
