Glass plant in Minvody develops recycling

In the Stavropol Territory, the manufacturer of glass bottles and jars JSC Kavminsteklo is increasing the use of cullet in the production process. The head of the Ministry of Industry of the Territory Vitaly Shulzhenko announced this within the framework of a working visit to the plant by General Director Aleksandrs Pavlovs, the relevant ministry said.

The capacity of the enterprise allows to produce more than 470 million units of products annually Of these, about 445 million are bottles made of colorless, olive and dark glass. In the production of some types of glassware, the plant uses secondary raw materials. The amount of recycled glass in glass containers can reach 45%, depending on the color of the product.

“By using cullet in the production process, the company contributes to the improvement of the environmental situation in the Stavropol Territory and other regions of Russia, from where the recyclable materials are recycled,” said Vitaly Shulzhenko, head of the Territory Industry Ministry.

The use of old bottles for the production of glass containers does not in any way affect the quality of the products obtained. Moreover, when working with cullet, the company reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. In the future, the plant is ready to increase the volume of glass processing provided there are sufficient volumes of secondary raw materials.
