The glass industry will strengthen import independence thanks to the project of the Agency for Technological Development

The Sintez Research and Production Enterprise (hereinafter referred to as the Sintez Research and Production Enterprise) completed a project to develop a Russian analogue of a foreign product - a cold coating composition and transferred the technological regulations for it to the Agency for Technological Development (hereinafter referred to as the Agency).

The cold coating composition is designed to create a clean and transparent film on the surface of glass containers, allowing it to maintain its appearance under vibration and shock loads. Such compositions are widely in demand in the domestic glass industry, but are imported from abroad due to limited production in Russia.

In 2022, the Svet plant contacted the Agency, interested in reverse engineering the cold coating composition. The Agency organized a competition to select the executor of the project supported by the grant program (the Agency was determined to be its operator in accordance with Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 208 of February 18

2022).

Based on the results of the competition, NPP Sintez was declared the winner. Specialists from NPP Sintez analyzed the materials used to prepare the composition, created prototypes of three brands for vapor-phase and emulsion application of this product, and prepared a set of technological documentation, which was submitted to the Agency. Agency employees, in turn, carried out its examination to ensure compliance with the requirements of current standards.

Now the production of a cold coating composition can be launched at any Russian enterprise that has the status of a qualified manufacturer of the Agency.

"Svet" (Mozhga, Udmurt Republic) is one of the largest manufacturers of glass packaging in Russia. Its capacity allows it to produce about 750 million pieces of glass packaging with complex geometric shapes and a capacity of 5 milliliters to 3 liters.

NPP Sintez (Perm) specializes in the production of hydrocarbon refrigerants and highly pure gases, as well as products for the glass industry.

The Agency for Technological Development (Moscow) was created by order of the Government of the Russian Federation. His competence includes localization of technologies at the request of industrial companies, comprehensive examination of innovative solutions and implementation of a grant support program for reverse engineering of components critical for Russian industry.
