LLC Sibirskoye Steklo (Sibsteklo, the largest glass container manufacturer in Russia) has strengthened its position in the ESG index of Russian business prepared by RBC and the NKR rating agency, moving up to the list of companies of the first (high) level of compliance with environmental, social and governance standards, which, among others, also includes Gazprom, MMC Norilsk Nickel, Severstal, NK Rosneft, Rosseti, PhosAgro, MTS, Metalloinvest, NOVATEK, Sibur, En+, GC Samolet, AB InBev Efes, Unilever.
A total of 117 applications were selected for the final three-level list in 2024.
The ranking was formed based on an analysis of the participant's ESG profile. The calculations were based on data obtained as a result of the questionnaire. The questions were formulated taking into account industry specifics that affect the change in the weight of each factor. For example, when assessing non-financial companies, special attention was paid to their impact on the environment. The project organizers noted that the corporate sector in Russia is gradually becoming more environmentally sustainable: the average values for this indicator for those classified as level one have improved.
– The enterprise has once again successfully passed certification in the ESG coordinate system, – comments Anton Mor, CEO of Sibsteklo. – The results achieved by the plant at the current stage correspond to our strategy and global goals. During the year, we reduced the carbon footprint along the entire product life cycle chain – from the purchase of mineral resources, localizing raw material supplies in the Siberian Federal District, to the disposal of end-of-life glass packaging, increasing the share of glass waste in the production of brown containers to 55-60%, which, in turn, made it possible to reduce energy consumption. Following the green agenda, Sibsteklo realizes its potential and, with the support of stakeholders, strengthens its competitive advantages.
