Technical specialists of Sibirskoye Steklo LLC (Sibsteklo, one of the leading glass container manufacturers in the country, the largest glass waste recycler in the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts) have found an opportunity to increase the daily capacity of the glass melting furnace, commissioned in 2021, from 375 to 480 tons of glass mass - a record for glass container plants in Russia.
As reported by Anton Mor, General Director of Sibsteklo, the solution obtained as a result of industrial experiments involves the use of at least 50% of glass waste in the composition of glass melting components. Currently, thanks to the efforts of Chistaya Strana LLC, which collects glass waste on behalf of the plant, 55-60% of recycled materials are used in the manufacture of brown glass containers (half of Sibsteklo's product structure) in this furnace.
- The demand for a brown bottle, which is traditionally used to paint beer containers, is showing positive dynamics, - comments Anton Mor. – In addition, our customers, who are guided by the principles of sustainable development, perceive glass packaging made from recycled materials as more environmentally friendly. Considering that the enterprise’s potential allows it to meet market needs by increasing the volume of glass mass production, the Board of Directors of Sibsteklo approved an investment program that provides for the installation of another technological line equipped with a three-drop glass-forming machine, annealing furnace, transport, inspection and packaging equipment. As a result, the overall productivity of glass complexes will increase by 15% – up to 1 billion glass products per year.
According to preliminary estimates, the investment will amount to 700 million rubles, the project should pay off in two years.
