Sibsteklo increased production output by a third

A member of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia, Siberian Glass LLC (the largest manufacturer of glass containers beyond the Urals, an asset of RATM Holding) summed up the production results for the first half of 2022.

The production of container glass in glass complexes, compared to the same period last year, increased by 27% in tons - from 106.9 to 135.9 tons, and in pieces by 32% - from 304.67 million to 401.65 million. In the total volume of production, the share of glass containers made using lightening technologies increased from 73% to 79%: 317.63 million of such bottles rolled off the conveyors. As a result, the average weight of a glass product has decreased from 291 to 289 grams.

By improving the production processes, the glass utilization rate was increased by two percentage points to 0.85.

By the end of the year, Sibstekle intends to produce 812 million pieces of glass containers, which is 14% more than in 2021.

Commenting on the company's plans, Anton Mor, General Director of Sibstekla, noted the trend towards environmental friendliness of packaging - the food sector is gradually abandoning non-recyclable containers, including glass ones. The demand for it is also rising because it retains the taste characteristics of the contents in the best possible way.

– Glass jars are becoming more and more popular. For example, two- and three-liter bottles are used not only by manufacturers of juices and canned fruits and vegetables, but also by distributors of draft beer in retail outlets, - Anton Mor shares his observations. - Mayonnaise is being packaged in small jars. There are more dairy products and glass bottled water on store shelves, with new players entering the market in both the premium and mid-price segments who are also striving to follow a “green” course.
