Rostec has replaced high-strength glazing for SJ-100 imports

Rostec has begun serial production of high-strength cockpit glazing and protection of external lighting equipment for the SJ-100 aircraft, the state corporation said.

"Obninsk Research and Production Enterprise "Tekhnologiya" named after A.G. Romashin of the Rostec State Corporation has begun serial production of imported components for SJ-100 aircraft - cockpit glazing and protection of external lighting equipment. It consists entirely of Russian materials, is equipped with heating for flights in any weather conditions and passed all ground tests, including bird resistance," Rostec said, adding that earlier these products were supplied from abroad.

Structural optics are installed on a prototype SJ-100, which is currently undergoing flight tests, the state corporation added. The kit for one aircraft includes six cockpit glazing products that remain operational at temperatures from -62 to +85 ° C. The protection of signal lights and other lighting equipment on the wings, fuselage and tail unit is made of organic glass.

Three enterprises of the holding in the chemical industry of Rostec take part in cooperation in the manufacture of glazing: specialists from the Research Institute of Technical Glass ensured the application of an electric heating layer, the Research Institute of Polymers - the production of organic glass, employees of "Tekhnologiya" are working on final products.

“The imported SJ-100 is a project of national importance. This aircraft will replace foreign airliners on Russian airlines and will become one of the main ones in the fleet of domestic airlines for years to come. More than 40 foreign systems and units have been replaced in the aircraft, including the cockpit glazing. It is in no way inferior to foreign counterparts and has successfully passed ground tests," said Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy General Director of Rostec.

"We have already started its serial deliveries: by the end of 2023, UAC will receive 20 sets of products for 20 SJ-100s," he concluded.
