A new method has been developed for 3D printing quartz glass objects ranging in size from millimeters to centimeters

The Austrian company UpNano has developed a new method for 3D printing objects from quartz glass. This solution allows you to create high-precision parts ranging in size from millimeters to centimeters.

Previously, producing complex 3D glass objects, especially high-quality quartz glass, was extremely difficult. Existing methods had limitations in accuracy and surface quality.

The new process involves three stages: 3D printing the structure from a special nanocomposite, removing the polymer binder material and sintering at high temperatures. The result is a smooth quartz glass piece with microscopic precision.

The new process is ideal for creating large 3D printed glass parts that require high precision and resolution in fields such as engineering, chemistry, medicine and research, the scientists noted.

Quartz glass has excellent optical properties, biocompatibility, chemical inertness and high temperature resistance, making it an ideal material for a wide range of applications.
