Transparency that inspires: Larta UltraClear clear glass - a new product for the most striking projects

The production of a special series of especially transparent float glass Larta UltraClear was launched by the Larta Glass company. Coated sheet glass in a neutral shade will allow architects and designers to create visually light facades and structures.

The peculiarity of the product is the combination of increased light transmission and a neutral shade in the color of the glass. Larta UltraClear coated sheet glass with reduced iron content ensures color reproduction while maintaining natural colors.

The product is suitable for interior and architectural solutions. Larta UltraClear glass with LartaPro coating will be used in facade glazing of commercial, residential, social facilities, shop windows and fencing. Thanks to its characteristics - increased light transmission and the absence of extraneous shades - the product will help architects create neutral tones in the aesthetics of facades. Float glass is suitable for creating “weightless” interior structures - partitions, showers, cabinet furniture, doors, kitchens, shop windows.

“The launch of the production of highly coated glass is associated with global trends in architecture and the demands of the Russian market, which we, as manufacturers, always follow,” says Larta Glass CEO Elena Rassudimova. — We first presented the UltraClear product in April 2023 at the international construction exhibition MosBuild. This product follows the trend for neutral shades and visually weightless, “seamless” building facades, with the effect of no glass.”

Glass can be used in the entire range of thicknesses and formats, including the super-sized oversize format of more than 9 meters, the production of which was launched by Larta Glass in February 2023.

“The product will help architects and designers implement bold solutions in accordance with modern trends and demands for naturalness,” says Larta Glass commercial director Alexander Chetverikov. “During the product development stage, we carried out a number of studies to create a glass formula that, thanks to the combination of materials, will give the maximum degree of light transmittance - at least 90% at a thickness of 4 mm.”

According to Larta Glass, interest in coated glass is growing in Russia. This is due to the widespread use of multilayer structures and glass with energy-saving coating. Larta UltraClear is perfect for translucent structures of large sizes and triplex, in which the double-glazed window is massive, and, as a result, a green tint may appear on the glass.

Iron, which is contained in the raw materials, is responsible for the appearance of a green tint in glass. To achieve optimal purification parameters for the extracted raw materials and achieve the required quality, Larta Glass, together with its partners, worked through the necessary materials, developed a unique recipe, and built standards and quality control processes.

Before launching mass production, experts conducted test meltings of glass in a furnace, checking the product and selecting characteristics to suit the needs of the market. Currently, the LartaPro architectural line is being finalized on the Larta UltraClear base glass.

“We sought to optimize technological parameters, select suitable raw materials and chemical composition that would provide high light transmission and color rendering,” says Roman Milyukov, director of architectural projects. “And this means that through Larta UltraClear glass, any details will be displayed clearly and without distortion.”
