The issue of building a new glass factory in Belarus is being considered

In Belarus, a new glass factory can be built to meet the growing demand for glass containers and packaging. This was announced today to journalists by the Minister of Architecture and Construction Dmitry Mikulenok before the first industry conference of glass workers in Belarus, Trend reports with reference to BelTA.

The worldwide trend is the rejection of plastic packaging and a return to environmentally friendly glass containers. Belarus is also taking steps in this direction.

"It is important that the industry is ready for such a serious transition. A phased transition is planned. For example, testing will first take place on drinking water, soda. Therefore, we expect that the capacities of enterprises will be ready to meet the growing need for glass containers," said Dmitry Mikulenok. He emphasized that three large glass factories operate in the country. Now they provide about 70% of the Belarusian market. In particular, a beer bottle, a bottle for distilleries, a container for canning, used by Belarusian enterprises, mainly of domestic production.

Dmitry Mikulenok noted that all enterprises of the glass industry in Belarus are constantly being modernized. The processes are aimed at reducing costs and costs, developing new products, increasing their competitiveness. Questions are being considered to increase capacity in the country. Including due to the construction of a new factory for the production of glass containers. "The necessary calculations are being carried out. Since this type of product is in demand on foreign markets, with the construction of a new plant we will be able to increase exports several times. The general director of Grodno Glassworks OJSC Yuri Skripko noted that a new enterprise may appear in Grodno. “Demand for glass containers as environmentally friendly packaging is increasing in the domestic and foreign markets. We are preparing for this. We are closely engaged in our new project. In fact, a new factory may appear at the entrance to Grodno,” the director said and emphasized that this enterprise will produce a wide range of products, including bottles for drinks, which are so far poured into plastic.

The first industry conference of glass workers in Belarus is taking place in Grodno. Heads of all glass organizations of the country, as well as representatives of relevant companies from Germany and Russia take part in it. Among the issues for discussion are trends in the development of glass container production technologies in Belarus, neighboring countries and around the world, as well as the state and prospects of the European sheet glass market.
