Soda producers warned of a 25% reduction in employees

The Union of Soft Drinks and Mineral Water Producers (SPBN) asked the government to urgently support an industry that could face closure of production and a reduction of about a quarter of its employees due to the crisis. This follows from a letter signed by Union President Maxim Novikov sent on April 3 to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin (available to RBC). RBC sent a request to the government.

The union, which unites manufacturers, which account for 70% of soft drinks, mineral water, and juices produced in Russia, reports that amid the spread of coronavirus and changes in exchange rates, manufacturers and importers have predicted demand instability, a decline in investment, and difficulties from the beginning of 2020. with the supply of imported components and materials. Moreover, more than 85% of enterprises in the industry are small and medium-sized businesses.
