The works of Gusev’s masters were shown at the Academy of Arts

January 28, 2020 at the Russian Academy of Arts in Moscow at the exhibition "Ice and Fire" presented 40 of the most interesting works of employees of the Gusevsky Crystal Plant. The main part of the exposition was composed by the works of the main artist of the enterprise - Vladimir Kasatkin.

Today, the collections and expositions of the museum-reserve store an extensive collection of decorative and applied art objects made of glass, created by both masters of the past and our contemporaries. The museum’s collection is regularly replenished with the most interesting works, which is facilitated by many years of friendly relations between museum workers and factory workers. Among contemporary authors, the hereditary glassblower Vladimir Ivanovich Kasatkin, who devoted more than 50 years of his life to the plant, should be especially distinguished. At the very beginning of his career, the master declared himself to be interesting works in which the characteristic features of the so-called “Gusev school” were seen. Now Vladimir Ivanovich himself is a mentor who conveys the accumulated experience and secrets of the production of crystal and glass to young artists.

At the opening of the Ice and Fire exhibition, the General Director of the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts Svetlana Melnikova noted that the VSMZ collection contains more than 13 thousand glass objects. She assured that the museum will continue to make every effort to preserve the history of the city of masters - Gus-Khrustalny - for posterity, which is fully reflected in the works of such talented factory artists as Vladimir Kasatkin.

The merits of the master were noted by the Gratitude of the Russian Academy of Arts, which in a solemn atmosphere he was awarded at the opening of the exhibition. In response, the master spoke about what draws inspiration from life itself. Now he considers the main task for himself to teach the secrets of the “Gusev School” of young artists, among whom he singled out Alexander Gryzunov, Svetlana Berezina and Natalya Lyubimova, as well as the engraver Maxim Morozov, whose works are also presented at the exhibition at the Academy.

The exhibition runs until February 2, 2020 at the Russian Academy of Arts (Moscow, Prechistenka, 21).
