OJSC Polotsk-Fiberglass in May will begin construction of a new workshop for the finishing processing of electrical insulating fabrics, BelTA learned from First Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer Roman Bliznev.

The company approached the idea of the project "Construction of a workshop for the production of thermochemically processed insulating materials for the production of foil dielectrics" about four years ago after a visit from Panasonic representatives who visited Polotsk-Fiberglass with an audit. The objective of the project is to improve the quality characteristics of the products. "Our goal is to remove the sizing agent from the fabric and ensure good adhesion of the fabric to the resins, as it is planned to be used in the production of double-sided and multilayer printed circuit boards for various industries. In this case, to ensure an ultrapure surface of the fabric, we will use our own development of the thermal cleaning process, meeting international achievements, at which the level of removal of the sizing and dressing will reach 99.95%, "said Roman Bliznev.

The investment project has passed state expertise. The cost of the main technological equipment of the German company Brueckner, for which a contract is currently being concluded, is more than 8 million euros. Investments in the rest of the project will amount to more than Br40 million (for design, construction, engineering networks, auxiliary equipment, etc.). Currently, the company selects a general contractor. It is planned to begin construction and installation work in May.

The capacity of the new workshop will be 24 million tons of fiberglass per year. Intend to receive the first products in the first half of 2021. Its main part will be intended for export sales. Large companies from Russia, the USA, Austria, Germany and other countries have already shown interest in it. The projected annual revenue for the project will be $ 20.3 million.

“The project is the main one for this year, it will be the focus of all our efforts. The large-scale reconstruction of glass melting furnaces carried out in 2019 (there are seven of them at the enterprise) will contribute to this in many respects, the reconstruction costs of which are the most significant in the overall annual plan for modernizing everything "We have done a lot of work to increase their service life and productivity, having received a" window "for the next two years in terms of releasing funds for these purposes, which we will direct to a new workshop," added the chief engineer.

OJSC Polotsk-Fiberglass manufactures fiberglass, rovings, fiberglass, electrical insulating and structural fiberglass, building fiberglass and fiberglass, silica materials and others. The annual production volume is 57 thousand tons of fiberglass, the bulk of which is exported to more than 50 countries. The company employs about 4 thousand people.
