Demonstration performances on blowing Christmas tree balls will be held in Tatarstan

During the festive event, anyone will be able to get acquainted with the ancient art of blowing glass products, as well as learn what fusing is.

Before and during the New Year holidays, the Sviyazhsk Island-Grad museum-reserve launches a glassblowing show. What it is? In short, this beautiful name covers master classes on creating glass balls. Which will certainly decorate any holiday tree. But not only balls. This is the real art of blowing various beautiful things from glass.

Why was Sviyazhsk chosen for the show? It’s simple: it’s here, on the island, that the only glass-blowing workshop in Tatarstan is located.

Master glassblowers will tell you that there are a great variety of techniques when working with glass, such as fusing, lampwork, stained glass making, and bending. To find out what these still unclear words mean, you should sign up for a master class in advance. There you will be able to learn all the secrets of creating products, starting from the very basics, and then, together with the masters, go through the path of glass from ancient to modern technologies. As part of the master class, the fire process of making glass products using various techniques will be demonstrated.

“Our workshop is distinguished by the fact that we work with liquid glass, melted to the temperature of lava in the crater of a volcano, and this is quite a bit 1150 degrees,” the press service of the Sviyazhsk Island-Grad museum-reserve reports details.

All products in the workshop are made from molten glass bottles; there are special containers for this in the museums of Sviyazhsk. The “Climbing into a Bottle” project is being implemented by the winner of the “Creative Museum” competition of the “Museum Without Borders” charity program of the Vladimir Potanin Charitable Foundation.
