In memory of Sergei Vladimirovich Ignatov

After a short illness at the age of 70, on March 23, 2022, our colleague, friend and colleague Sergei Vladimirovich Ignatov left this world. It would seem that quite recently we communicated, exchanged impressions and plans. . . and then the unthinkable happened. The Russian glass community has suffered a truly irreparable loss.

After graduating in 1975 from the Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering (MIKhM), Faculty of Technical Cybernetics, Sergei Vladimirovich came to work at the State Research Institute of Glass.

Having spent most of his professional life in the glass world, Sergei Vladimirovich earned the unconditional authority of a professional of the highest standard among his colleagues and in 1984 successfully defended his Ph.D.

Possessing experience unique for our country in the field of industrial electric glass melting technology, he, together with his associates and colleagues, until recently tried to preserve and pass on this experience to the current generation of specialists.

Being an informal leader in spirit, Sergei Vladimirovich tried to unite like-minded specialists around him, capable of solving the most diverse tasks that the industry set before him. And many things were brought to life solely thanks to the high professional, organizational and human qualities of Sergei Vladimirovich, his ability to convince and motivate, the ability to delve deeply into the essence of the problem, to achieve his goals.

Many of his colleagues called him their friend and this was not the slightest stretch. He was like that in life, always ready to lend his shoulder in difficult times to anyone who needed help. He just came and did his due.

Mind and a sense of responsibility, cheerfulness and optimism, enterprise and purposefulness, breadth of soul and sincerity - this is all about him, a reliable friend, wise adviser and trustee.

This is how we will remember you Sergey Vladimirovich, infinitely kind, sensitive, courageous and highly professional. The way a real Man, Man, Husband, Father should be!

The Association "StekloSouz" of Russia mourns the untimely loss and expresses deep condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.

The bright memory of Sergei Vladimirovich Ignatov will remain in the hearts of everyone who had the opportunity to communicate and work with this wonderful person.
