The staff of JSC "Institute of Glass" regrets to announce that on February 27, 2022, after a serious illness, Alexander Georgievich Chesnokov passed away,

candidate of technical sciences, laureate of the Prize of the Russian Government in the field of science and technology. Head of the Department of Standardization and Testing, Head of the Testing Laboratory "Glass" JSC "Institute of Glass", member of the Public Council at Rosstandart, member of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Industrial Policy of the RSPP, Chairman of the Interstate Technical Committee for Standardization MTK 133 "Glass", Deputy Chairman and Chairman PC 1 of the national technical committee for standardization TC 041 "Glass", expert ISO / TC 160 "Glass in construction" of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), member of expert group 1.5 "Glass, double-glazed windows and translucent structures" of the scientific and technical council for industrial development building materials (products) and building structures under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia

A graduate of MIEM in 1974, Alexander Georgievich, joined the State Institute of Glass in October 1977. Worked in Manevich's department. After defending his Ph.D. thesis in 1984, he became the head of the metrology sector, where he worked for 10 years. In 1994, he headed the standardization and testing department, which he led until the last days of his life.

Alexander Georgievich is the author of more than 180 scientific papers, 130 interstate standards. His scientific interests ranged from applied mathematics, metrology, automatic production control systems to artificial intelligence problems, but in the last 30 years he has focused on work in the field of standardization, testing, examination of glass products and translucent structures.

For research, development of constructive solutions and mastering the production of a new generation of energy-efficient translucent enclosing structures in 2003, Alexander Georgievich was awarded the high title of laureate of the Prize of the Government of Russia in the field of science and technology.

Alexander Georgievich was distinguished by high professionalism and adherence to principles, he was a demanding and fair leader, a mentor for young personnel, a true friend, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

The untimely departure of Alexander Georgievich from life became an irreparable loss not only for his relatives, not only for friends and work colleagues, but also for the entire professional community.

The bright memory of Chesnokov Alexander Georgievich will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
