A new waste processing complex has been launched in the Moscow region

In the Moscow Region Sergiev Posad, a new Severny waste processing complex (KPO) was opened. Over 10 years, it will receive about 2.2 million tons of garbage, the 360 channel reported.

At the end of last year, the Kargashino and Nepeyno training grounds were closed in the Moscow Region. Now the waste that should have been sent there is recycled at the Severny complex. Also, part of the garbage will be sent there from the Aleksinsky Quarry and Timokhovo landfills.

“KPO“ Sever ”is the seventh modern enterprise, which has been commissioned since the end of 2018 as part of the formation of a new waste management system in the Moscow region. Today we launched the first stage of the new modern complex,” said the deputy chairman of the Moscow Region Government Evgeny Khromushin.

In 2019, the South opened processing facilities in the region in Kolomna and Vostok in Yegoryevsk. Also work "Splender" in Silver Ponds and "Ecograd" in Zaraysk. In total, 12 such enterprises will be launched in the Moscow region.

"All of them will allow us to close or modernize the remaining 11 old landfills, which so prevented our residents from living and harming the environment," added Yevgeny Khromushin.

Garbage in the "North" will begin to bring in March. Part of the waste will be sent for recycling - glass, metal, polymers, waste paper and materials that can be composted.

Last year, several landfills were closed in the suburbs. The total landfill area is over 60 hectares. In total, 11 solid waste landfills remained to be closed in the region.
