Господдержка предприятий-производителей строительных материалов
Dear colleagues, we are publishing news about a member of the Association " StekloSouz" of Russia, Siberian Glass LLC (“Sibsteklo”):
The Novosibirsk region is ahead of federal trends; secondary resources are increasingly being involved in industrial circulation.
Thus, the Sibsteklo plant produces bottles from those that have already served their useful life. Glass waste accounts for 45% of production. Under natural conditions, glass takes more than 1000 years to decompose. Its waste comes mainly from landfills. By melting them down, the enterprise reduces the volume of waste fraction disposal. By increasing processing volumes, the Siberian Glass plant is reducing the consumption of natural resources. In order for the cullet to meet the requirements for glass melting, the plant launched the first stage of a processing complex, the capacity of which is 60 thousand tons of recyclable materials per year.
Cullet, cleared of metal elements, corks and organics, is added to a mixture of natural components - sand, soda, dolomite, limestone. The resulting mixture is sent to a glass melting furnace. Glass can be melted countless times, and all the properties of this environmentally friendly material are preserved.
“Glass is boiled at a very high temperature – 1,560 degrees. Glass waste cooks faster than sand. Every 10 percent of cullet reduces energy consumption by three percent. As a result, the industrial load on the environment, in particular, carbon dioxide emissions, is reduced,” explained Alexey Nikitin, chief technologist of Siberian Glass LLC.
More than half of the plant’s total production is brown containers, amounting to approximately 470 million glass products per year. For their production, 45% cullet is used. The share of glass waste when producing colorless containers is up to 30%.
“In 2021, Siberian Glass launched a new glass melting furnace, and now the need for glass waste has increased to 200 thousand tons per year. According to our data, in the Novosibirsk region alone, 55-60 thousand tons of glass waste is generated. We are ready to recycle glass from all over Siberia,” said Anton Mor, General Director of Siberian Glass LLC. ─ The plant signed an agreement with the Russian environmental operator, the administration of the Tomsk region and the Altai Territory to ensure a sustainable flow of cullet.”
In 2024, the company plans to use up to 80% of glass waste in production. The company reduces the burden on the environment and develops its recycling capabilities, thereby launching drivers for the formation of a circular economy in the regions.
