Top 20 waste disposal companies in Russia named: Moscow region leads

The Russian environmental operator presented a rating of regional operators for the treatment of municipal solid waste. It included 20 regenerative operators, and the first lines were occupied by companies from the Moscow and Bryansk regions. The Green Rating will be published annually.

“The rating makes it possible to assess the contribution of regional operators to the creation of favorable conditions for the development of an integrated system for the management of MSW in Russia. To compile it, we selected the criteria, conducted a statistical assessment. Plus, our specialists constantly monitor the activities of regenerative operators, collect data and analyze the situation on a daily basis. A lot of work has been done, and we are pleased to present industry leaders. Congratulations! At the same time, I would like the rest not only to strive to occupy high positions, but most importantly to develop the industry for the benefit of our country and its inhabitants. We hope that at some point we will come to the point where all companies will be able to take first place in this rating. We will compile it annually,” said Denis Butsaev, General Director of the PPC REO.

The criteria for evaluating regoperators were as follows: collection of payments, work with volunteer movements, holding educational campaigns dedicated to conscious consumption, the level of satisfaction of the population with the quality

provision of services for the treatment of MSW, coverage of the population with payments for the utility service for the treatment of MSW.

Green rating was compiled on the basis of statistical indicators and results sociological survey. The rating includes both statistical indicators and the results of a sociological survey of citizens. This approach allows us to analyze digital data, as well as assess the level of social mood and perception of ongoing changes in the field of MSW management. REO specialists analyzed the data of the electronic model of the federal scheme for the treatment of MSW and territorial schemes, information from the federal executive authorities and ROIV, regional operators, as well as data from the digital system "REO Radar", the questionnaire of the participant of the "Green Rating" (with verification), report on media reports.

The data collected as a result of a sociological survey characterize the quality and availability of infrastructure and services for the treatment of MSW, as well as the awareness and attitude of citizens to the reform and ongoing changes. A telephone survey (CATI) was conducted on a specially designed sample in November 2021. The survey represents the population of each subject of the Russian Federation aged 18 years and over. The sampling error is no more than 3.4%.

The rating will allow managers and practitioners in public authorities, business, public organizations to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of measures aimed at developing the MSW management system. The rating is published based on the results of 11 months of 2021 and is intended for publication in open sources. The leaders of the annual ranking will be awarded the Green Prize.
